# Quality bar

> How OrgX checks agent output against your written standard, and why passing a check is not the same as accepting the work.

A quality bar is your written standard for one kind of work. When a bar is set
for that kind of work, OrgX checks agent output against it before it reaches
your review, and shows which criterion passed or failed and why. Accepting the work stays a separate human
decision. Beta.

For the product overview, see [Quality bar](https://useorgx.com/product/quality-bar).

## One check, end to end

This example uses illustrative content, not a real workspace.

<Steps>
  <Step title="The artifact">
    An agent attaches **Launch post, version 4** to a marketing task.
  </Step>

  <Step title="The criterion">
    Your marketing bar includes: "Every number cites where it came from."
  </Step>

  <Step title="The evidence">
    The check quotes the sentence it judged: "Teams ship 3x faster with
    OrgX." No source is attached to it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="The outcome">
    The criterion fails with that sentence as the reason, and the post is
    flagged before it reaches your review. The failure is not hidden behind
    other criteria that passed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Your decision">
    When a later version passes, you open it and accept or send back
    **that exact version**. OrgX records who accepted which version. A pass is
    not acceptance.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What runs

| Kind | What it does | Result |
| - | - | - |
| Measured | Deterministic checks such as placeholders, unsourced numbers and broken links. | Pass or fail, with the location |
| Judged | A model scores each part of your standard separately against reference examples. | One score per part, never one blended number |
| Observed | Issues found outside the written criteria. | Noted with evidence; recurring ones can be added to the bar |

A check that does not apply to an artifact is left out, not counted as a pass.

## What a check does not decide

* Passing lets the work move to review. It does not publish, send or accept it.
* A check without evidence for its verdict does not count.
* Acceptance is recorded by a person, by name, for one version.

## Where to see it

Open an artifact from a task or receipt in OrgX to see each criterion, its
evidence and its outcome. Receipts list the criteria set before the work
started and the proof attached to each.
